The Casual Broadcast Technologist role is an ideal starting point for recent graduates or individuals embarking on their careers in radio. This position offers an exciting opportunity to dive into the world of IT and broadcasting technology. As a Casual Broadcast Technologist, you will have the chance to work closely with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in operating and maintaining studio equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to the seamless execution of live broadcasts. This role provides a solid foundation for those looking to develop their skills in broadcasting, signal transmission, and information technology. With ample room for growth and learning, a Casual Broadcast Technologist can build a strong foundation for a rewarding and fulfilling career in the ever-evolving realm of broadcasting.

About the role:
Broadcasting and Technical Studio Equipment

  • Ensure the effective functioning of broadcasting and streaming equipment, both within studios as a priority and in production environments, by responding to and resolving any technical malfunctions or operator issues.
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance schedule for broadcasting and technical equipment is adhered to, in accordance of quality standards, policy and priorities.
  • Ensure any additions or changes to infrastructure are documented clearly and accurately.

Radio Transmitter Sites

  • Always ensure the effective operation of ARN’s radio transmitter sites and transmission signals by monitoring signals and fail-safe systems.
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance schedule is adhered to by inspecting the technical equipment and transmitter building sites, in accordance with quality standards, policy and priorities.

IT Facilities and Office Equipment

  • Provide hardware and software support for all computer systems.
  • Assist IT staff to ensure hardware and software support for computers to resolve user issues.

  • Audio and visual knowledge.
  • IT knowledge
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Sound organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal in English.
  • Technical-related knowledge and experience in broadcasting or a similar industry
