Vevo goes live

As announced last week (here) Vevo has launched in Australia today. Vevo is a joint venture between Sony and Universal and in Australia is in partnership with MCM Media.

Vevo users can view around 45,000 premium music videos and content on demand, and free.

Australian artists feature prominently, and the content and sales are managed by MCM Media. VEVO also features original programming which includes series such as VEVO Lift, showcasing up and coming artists or Stylised – which explores an artist’s fashion and style.

MCM Media’s CEO, Simon Joyce says VEVO has been a true game changer. "(Vevo is) playing a key role in changing the way audiences consume music, as we move from the traditional model of owning to streaming – accessing all the music videos we want, wherever we are, on whatever device we choose.
