One of Albury’s best loved, and longest serving broadcasters, Ray Currie, has died aged 82.

Ray spent almost all his broadcasting career at 2AY Albury, apart from a short stint at Warwick Qld.

His versatility was evident in his involvement in The Chickabiddies and on Breakfast, before settling into a role in the Newsroom in 1970. He eventually retired in 1993 after 44 years as a broadcaster.

In his main role as a journalist, Ray made his name as an accurate and balanced professional. He was a rare species – a gentleman of integrity, about whom no-one had a bad word.

The Funeral of Ray Currie was held at St Mary’s Church in Corowa on Thursday October 1.
