Two recent radio changes
First to Geelong where Bay FM announcer Peter 'Mobbsy' Mobbs has been made redundant after 16 years at the station.
On Facebook he said…
"I am so lucky to have such great FB friends and so many loyal listeners. Your messages have meant so much to me and my family the past day. After such a long time on the air every day I kinda forgot that people actually 'listened'."
"As Keef said: 'It's good to be here, good to be anywhere..' And props to other peeps in GTown who have lost their jobs. Im fully aware that others are doing it tougher than me. Snizzle"
Why was Mobbsy made redundant ? Bay FM PD Mark Hyland explains…
"As all businesses do, we have regular reviews of our operations. For the last 2 years BayFM has had 5 full time announcers across 4 shifts, which is the first time in memory for the station. The review determined that we could remove one role from BayFM and extend our afternoon shift from 2-4pm to 2-6pm, also covering our simulcast of 7 News from 6-6:30pm. After assessing roles, it was decided to make Mobbsy redundant. It was a difficult decision and I feel for Mobbsy who has had an amazing career in radio."
Now to Brisbane where they have appointed a new EP for the Triple M breakfast show, 'The Grill Team'.
Jason Matthews has been at the station producing their Saturday morning show 'The Dead Set Legends' and will now switch to the early wake up calls, commuting from the Gold Coast to Brissy each day.
Jason was a Content Director at Macquarie Southern Cross for 12 years, with most of his time spent on the Gold Coast at Sea FM / Gold FM.
