TRN & Mediaworks programming moves

Staff Writer

After only a couple of months in the chair, new Group Content Director for TRN Dean Buchanan (former Group PD of Nova) is making it clear that he intends to take the battle up to Mediaworks in 2014.

Mike McClung (right), who is currently the Content Director for Hauraki, will now be the Group Content Director for ZM, Flava and Hauraki.

McClung says, "I’m really thrilled about the direction TRN is heading. There’s a real buzz in the company and with the plans we are putting in place it will make for an exciting 2014."

ZM Content Director Christian Boston has resigned after 13 years with the station. Sarah Gandy will move into the CD role at ZM. Buchanan (left) says:

"Sarah’s had 10 years at ZM and in addition to being great talent on air she has shown real skills in the content area. She is ZM’s target audience so knows and understands what they want and need and where the stations need to be; she will literally be able to start running from day one."

Hayden Hare has been promoted to Content Director of Flava after leading their promotional efforts recently. Flava increased their audience by 42% nationally in the latest survey.

David Ridler will be the new CD at Hauraki after working at Classic Hits in Wellington. Matt Anderson has been promoted to be his ACD.

CEO of TRN, Jane Hastings says:

"I’m hugely excited about our youth brands, where they are currently at and what their potential is. In the past 12 months TRN’s 18-34 National share has increased by 21.4 per cent over the last year (T2 2012 to T2 2013). This new structure is stage two of the plan and is about injecting more support around our youth brands and letting them fly."
