Talk Radio’s future? – Starts April

Staff Writer

MediaWorks have announced a date for the launch of Paul Henry’s new breakfast show in New Zealand.

The new show will transcend simultaneously on MediaWorks TV, Radio and digital assets in one swoop each morning kicking off Tuesday April 7.

The new breakfast show will be on RadioLive, TV3 and online from 6am to 9am and is touted to be the first true cross-platform talk and entertainment program going nationwide in NZ.

“This show will change the face of mornings. It will be focused on news and entertainment. I won’t be compromising any of that for the platforms. This will be a conversation you can join at the beginning, or whenever you feel you want to, right through to 9 o’clock. You never have to leave it, because we’ll be there on any platform that works for you. Plus, I’m on it, and I will be myself, I’ll just be being me… fantastic,” said  Paul Henry.

Joining the line-up with Paul is 3News and RadioLIVE presenter Hilary Barry as News anchor, newcomer Perlina Lau as social media presenter and MediaWorks have added Jim Kayes to cover sport.

MediaWorks Group Head of News, Mark Jennings says: “Jim, at heart, is a news man. He just happens to be covering rugby for us at the moment. People tuning into the show will soon find he has a wide general knowledge and an opinion on most things. He told me he lost most of the dinner table arguments to his older sisters but I suspect he has honed his skills since then. Of course, viewers and listeners will also get the benefit of his vast sporting knowledge and a few rugby scoops.”
