StarFM tops Albury Wodonga’s first survey in more than a decade

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo's StarFM has topped Albury Wodonga's first all-of-industry radio ratings in more than a decade.

The survey results, released this morning, show StarFM has a 22.9% share of the audience ahead of sister station The River on 20.7.

Third in the overall results is Ace Broadcasters' 2AY on 16%.

The breakfast results have the same one, two and three as above, while 2AY wins mornings and Goulburn Murray's ABC Local wins nights.

StarFM has the greatest share of 18-24 listeners by more than 12 points, while The River wins the 25-39 and 40-54 demos.

2AY wins 55 plus.

The radio audience research was conducted by Xtra Research and involved 800 respondents between May 11 and 31, 2014.

Radio industry body, Commercial Radio Australia announced last year a new radio research protocol for regional licence areas outside the main GfK Radio Audience Measurement contract to allow more regular and less expensive research.

Under the new system, regional radio stations can commission one of four approved ratings survey contractors in conjunction with other commercial and public broadcasters in their licence area.
