Southern Cross Austereo launches new digital station ‘Urban Hits’

Former Assistant Editor

SCA has turned its RnB Fridays concept into a full-time station, today announcing the launch of new digital station Urban Hits.

The new station will broadcast 24-hours a day into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth – playing the hottest hip hop and RnB tunes.

According to SCA, Urban Hits will feature current hits by artists including Kanye West, Post Malone, Cardi B, Drake and The Weekend, as well as new releases by Beyonce and Jay-Z, and Nicki Minaj.

“Given the amount of Urban Hits in the regular mainstream charts, we believe there’s an appetite from listeners for a dedicated hip hop and RnB station in metro Australia,” said Hit Network head of content Gemma Fordham.

“With SCA giving advertisers an aggregated audience across all its Hit Network stations, there’s now another fresh face on the block to give even greater reach for our clients.”

The station streams from the Hit Network app and from the Hit Network official website.

Urban Hits will work in Melbourne but not sure if it will in Sydney. The Edge comes out of Sydney which they broadcast ad’s from Sydney, apart from that “The Edge” music is good.
