Social Scorecard: Radio’s top social posts this week

Staff Writer

So, what are Twitter Moments? You’ll spot it on both Twitter’s desktop and mobile apps, between Notifications and Messages.

Moments is basically ‘the very best of what’s happening on Twitter’; a content curation tool that allows you to pool and share an assortment of tweets about a particular topic. It displays as a slideshow, and you can refine the categories into today, news, entertainment, sports and fun.

When you tap on an individual moment, you’ll spot an intro with a title and description about it. You will be able to view images, videos, GIFs and tweets, which you can favourite, expand or retweet. On mobile, you’ll be able to swipe up or down to clear the moment and go back to the Moments ‘hub’.

Ways to you can utilise Twitter Moments
Twitter Moments is a great tool to integrate into your strategy as it enables you to increase engagement, trigger conversation and highlight what’s going on in your world. This week I’m outlining some ideas on how you can use it.

Reusing video
As I’ve mentioned before, video is one of the best ways to get noticed, so incorporating it in your ‘Moment’ can be a great way to tell a story or use it as your cover pic.

Utilising on-air talent and celebs
Joining forces with celebrities or influencers can boost your visibility and trigger a stream of traffic. Don’t forget to feature those interactions at the start of the moment to make sure it’s seen straight away.

Promote station events
Need to promote a party, upcoming interview or live event? Featuring a mixture of teaser tweets and content can be an effective marketing tool.

Our picks this week come from KIIS 106.5, 104.1 2DayFM and 102.9 Hot Tomato:

KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O – ‘Kyle came to the rescue!’

There’s always been something regal about ‘King Kyle’. So imagine my surprise when he got to work changing Jackie’s tyre! Came across genuine and it was well thought out.

A simple mundane task that demonstrates that even celebrity on-air talent are just regular, everyday people.

Sydney’s 2DayFM – ‘Nutella fries is a real thing’

Dear Lord – two of my fave things combined. I wasn’t going to miss the chance to witness people shovelling salty hot chips covered in Nutella into their faces, blindfolded! Very smart post, capitalising on food-focused socials.

From a strategy perspective it’s very savvy; tagging the restaurant in a cross promo, focusing on a food trend that went viral via socials and jumping on it in a timely fashion.

3. 102.9 FM Hot Tomato’s Flan & Emily Jade with Christo – ‘Flan and Christo raid Emily Jade’s Closet’

I’m impressed with the concept of this social campaign. You’ve probably seen similar stuff doing the rounds from the likes of BuzzFeed, where co-workers dress other staff for seven days. But Miss Emily Jade – GURL, I’m sure myself and your listeners are green with closet envy!

So smart, striking a chord with a female demo and having some fun. Some of the outfits the fellas have chosen so far have been ‘interesting’ to say the least. Well done guys; Emily Jade, please inbox me the god-like creature that’s creating your fab wardrobe!
