Second bite of the Christmas podcast cherry

What do you do when your successful Christmas podcast really only shines for one month of the year?

You look for any chance you can to get a second bite of that Christmas cherry!

That’s what Christmas Podding hosts Vanessa Gibson and Liam Renton have done, thanks to Christmas in July.

“We’ve noticed a strong growth of Christmas in July celebrations over the past few years and we’re bringing that to the podcast,” says Vanessa, who is putting on her 5th annual Christmas in July function for friends this month.

“If our podcast can be fun, relevant and helpful in the middle of the year – not just in December – that’s an added bonus!”

Liam has been a special guest on ABC Radio this month, enlightening listeners on Christmas in July rules in etiquette, such as “never ever invite your family” and “it’s not about gifts.”

He says the podcast downloads always experience a spike in July.

“We love the passion of our listeners and they have really embraced our own interest in Christmas in July!” he says.

The Christmas Podding duo admit to having been inspired lately by the success of fellow podcasters Ryan Jon and Toni Lodge.

“We’ve always emulated the casual chat and natural chemistry, like those two,” says Liam.

“We often find we’ll start a Christmas chat about baked ham and next thing we’re talking about how young is too young to teach your child how to pop bottle of champagne, or how you can hate fish but love a seafood sub from Subway.”

The fifth series of Christmas Podding is out now, just in time for Christmas in July and runs right through until December.
