Sea FM go for the Easter record

Staff Writer

In the great spirit of radio stations attempting ridiculous world records comes the latest effort, from ‘Paul & Woody’ at Sea FM in Hobart.

The current world record for the largest ‘hot cross bun is 168kgs. Yes that record exists. But perhaps on monday it will be broken when ‘Paul & Woody’ try to go one better; they commented:

“Australians love big things but Tassie has missed out on having one; no merino, no pineapple, no banana.

It’s time to put Tassie back on the map and what better way to do it than by breaking a world record for the biggest Easter bun and have it shaped like our awesome state.”

The record attempt will be made at a local bakery called Cripps, who have recently installed a 25×2 metre oven.

To be baked in a specially designed, Tasmania shaped baking tin, the bun will contain 75kg of Australian fruit, 160 kg of Tasmanian flour, 32 kg of Australian sugar, 16 kg of cinnamon, 8 kg of spice and 80 litre of pure Tasmanian water.

The baking starts at 10am next Monday, stay tuned for the results!
