SBS appoint Director of News & Current Affairs

Jim Carroll (right) is the new Director of News and Current Affairs at SBS, he replaces Paul Cutler who is retiring next month.

Carroll has recently been SBS’s EP of World News Australia and before that was at TEN for 11 years as head of news and public affairs.

He has also worked at Nine and Seven.

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said:

“Jim’s extensive expertise in news and current affairs will be invaluable to SBS as we continue building on the esteemed reputation of World News Australia, our radio news and our flagship current affairs programs Insight, Dateline and Living Black, by broadening our reach and deepening engagement with our audiences across the platforms and devices available to them.”

“I thank Paul Cutler for his outstanding contribution to SBS during his eight years here which is the culmination of an extremely distinguished media career both in Australia and internationally.

“Paul has steered the SBS news and current affairs team through a period of great change and challenge for the media sector, cementing our reputation for high-quality and in-depth journalism. In particular, he has guided many young journalists on to successful careers at SBS and other organisations, and will be missed at SBS.”

On his new role Carroll said:
