Peter Overton joins smoothfm

Staff Writer

Renowned television news journalist Peter Overton is shifting gears to radio next week, joining the team at smoothfm as a guest news reporter.

Commencing on Monday September 4, Overton will fill in for Steve Blanda while he is on leave and can be heard in mornings from 10am until Friday September 8.

Overton will side with a crew of experienced journalists on smoothfm including former Network Ten news presenter Ron Wilson, 2014 Brian White Award winner Glenn Daniel, and one half of Australia’s longest serving primetime TV news team, Jennifer Hansen.

Ben Latimer, smoothfm program director said, “We are thrilled to have Peter join the smoothfm family as guest newsreader. His presenting style and extensive news experience is a natural fit, and further reinforce smoothfm as FM news leader.”

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Overton joined Channel Nine in 1991 as a sports reporter for Sydney’s National Nine News before spending 10 years as reporter and presenter for the Nine Newsroom.

In 2001 he joined 60 Minutes as a reporter for eight years and continues to contribute special reports for the program.
