Nurse Saldanha inquest to resume

Staff Writer

The inquest into the death of British nurse Jacintha Saldanha will resume this week in London, at the Westminsters Coroners Court.

British MP Keith Vaz has been representing the family of the nurse. Vaz has said there remains many unanswered questions about the procedures at the hospital leading up to the death of Mrs Saldanha.

He has asked why the King Edward VII hospital did not have a trained operator answering enquiries at reception.

 Vaz said;

"The family remain hopeful the inquest and investigating (sic) will provide the answers they seek"

The family's lawyer, John Cooper QC, is acting on a pro bono basis for the family and has attacked a decision to deny the family legal aid.

It was announced last month that there would be no charges filed against SCA Announcers 'MC and Mel' as there was no evidence to support a manslaughter charge.
