New Zealand survey 1 results released

The results for the first survey of 2013 have been released in New Zealand.

Newstalk ZB (TRN) is now the number one radio station in all 3 metropolitan markets surveyed.

Below are the share graphs for Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington with topline analysis….

Auckland (population 1.2 million)

The leading station on share is Newstalk ZB on 13.3% (down from 13.9%) – their 22nd consecutive number one – followed by Coast (AC) on 8.3% (down 1.3). Classic Hits are now 3rd in Auckland jumping from 6th to now have a 6.8% share (up 0.7). The Edge (CHR) slipped back to 4th and are on 6.4% (down 1.0). Mai FM is now in 5th on 5.7%, up 1.4.

In the key breakfast shift, Newstalk ZB is #1 with 17.9% of the commercial radio breakfast market. The Edge is #2 on 7.7%. Mai FM and ZM are =3rd on 6.6%. Coast is next on 6.5%.

Christchurch (population 363,000)

Newstalk ZB is #1 on 16.2% (down from 17.1%), still a clear leader over More FM (Hot AC) on 10.0% (down 0.4). The Breeze are up from 6th to 3rd in the market and are on 8.2%. The Rock are now 4th on 8.1% (down from 9.4%). The Edge are 5th on 8.0% (up from 7.6%) and Coast (AC) are up from 6.1% to 7.7% to be 6th in Christchurch.

In the key breakfast shift, Newstalk ZB is #1 with 18.8% of the commercial radio breakfast market. More FM is #2 on 17.4%, ZM is #3 on 8.2%, The Edge is #4 on 7.8% and The Rock is #5 on 7.3%.

Wellington (population 331,000)

The leading station with a 13.1% share is now Newstalk ZB, swapping places with ZM (Hot AC), who are now #2 on 12.9%. The next 3 stations stay in place with The Breeze (AC) on 12.6% (up from 10.5%), Classic Hits 8.6% (up from 8.1%), The Rock 6.9% (down from 7.4%). The Edge are now 6th on 6.3% (up from 5.3%). The Sound are =6 with The Edge on 6.3%

In the key breakfast shift, Newstalk ZB is #1 with 16.4% of the commercial radio breakfast market. ZM is #2 on 14.6%, The Breeze is #3 on 13.9%, The Rock is #4 on 7.8% and Classic Hits is #5 on 7.3%.
