MediaWorks has revealed a new centralised newsroom will launch in early 2016. NewsHub will be a multi-platform TV, radio and digital news service. It will transform MediaWorks 3News (television) and RadioLIVE News services into a combined organisation with an integrated newsroom.

“We are bringing an entire organisation together from the TV, Radio and Digital newsrooms with a clear vision of how we can best serve the evolving New Zealand audience,”said MediaWorks Group CEO Mark Weldon.

“This is a substantial investment. It has been – and remains a huge amount of work – to realise a digital-led 24/7 NewsHub. The brand we are revealing today will be brought to life over the coming months.”

“NewsHub will deliver the very best news content, with specialist content teams providing expert analysis and insight to give Kiwis the information they want,”says Group Head of News Mark Jennings.

“Operating 24/7, our focus will be on providing the latest, most up-to-date news, in-depth coverage, breaking alerts and more, providing our audiences across all platforms with stories and information relevant to them, with a strong emphasis on digital, servicing web, mobile devices and social media.”

MediaWorks said the transformation will be combined with a significant investment in technology, including graphics, editing and production equipment, to ensure the best possible news product.

It follows closely NZME moves to also centralise their newsroom into a single entity announced Friday.
