MediaWorks partners with Vevo
After SCA here secured rights to Vevo with the acquisition of Authentic Entertainment, MediaWorks is now their exclusive premium video sales partner in New Zealand.
The partnership will see MediaWorks be the largest supplier of produced, premium online video content in New Zealand with a combined total of more than 50 million monthly video streams. The new content figures means MediaWorks will have the ability to reach more New Zealanders with online video content than any other local publisher.
“This partnership provides fantastic opportunities for both parties, developing on MediaWorks’ and Vevo’s existing offering of premium music and entertainment content,”says Glen Kyne, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at MediaWorks.
“Our partnership will allow us to reach more New Zealanders than ever before, and be the prime location for any advertiser looking to purchase premium digital content and connect to engaged audiences.”
Recent Roy Morgan research shows 83% of Kiwis now access one or more types of content on demand, with the New Zealand consumer increasingly connected and spending more time consuming digital video than ever before – in a country where over three in four people have a smartphone.
“We’re excited to partner with Media Works and having a partner on the ground will extend the reach of Vevo as we look to drive new growth opportunities in New Zealand,”said Nic Jones, Chief Revenue Officer, Vevo. “The digital advertising outlook for New Zealand is poised for continuing double-digit growth over the next five years and this collaboration will allow us to capitalise on the ever increasing demand for music videos in the local market.”
In July 2016, New Zealanders watched more than 50 million streams, or 258 years, of music video content via Vevo.
Vevo is a joint venture operation between Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. Oaktree Capital are the current backers of MediaWorks who are also behind Nine Entertainment Co in Australia.
