Lyons sues community station
Former paparazzi king and Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons is fired up for a fight with a Geelong community station.
He’s suing charity Diversitat, the owner of 94.7 The Pulse for on-air comments made by presenter Greg McHenry last year.
The Geelong Advertiser reports Lyons has filed a writ in the Supreme Court of Victoria alleging he was defamed by comments that likened his nightclubs to ‘drug dens’.
The Pulse and Diversitat issued a public apology, conceding the nightclub comment was ‘utterly baseless and should not have been made’, but Lyons’ writ claims that McHenry has yet to follow suit.
The former Geelong Mayor is seeking a payout to cover ‘damages, costs (and) such other further orders that the court sees fit.’
