L for Leather – A Grand Final Week Special

Staff Writer

In a special AFL Grand Final Week event, Libbi Gorr from 774 ABC Melbourne is having a panel discussion about men and leadership in the blokiest forum of them all – AFL Footy.

The L for Leather event is a spinoff of Libbi’s regular Sunday radio segment.

This time round 774 ABC has teamed up with the Wheeler Centre and ABC TV Big Ideas with Libbi’s panel having three generations of AFL tough men on stage.

AFL footy players: Don Scott – Hawthorn premiership captain and ‘hard man’ of the 1960s & 70s. Essendon legend, captain and premiership ruckman, Simon Madden (1980s & 90s).  And newly retired Collingwood midfielder, AFL Association President and former St Kilda captain Luke Ball, who has been a full-time professional footballer since he completed High School.

L for Leather will talk about men and leadership with Libbi set to tackle the tough questions.

Who are men now? How do they lead? How have the changing roles of women affected men’s perceptions of themselves? What does the locker room in a footy club tell us about the men we live with today?

L for Leather is being recorded live at the Wheeler Centre on Tuesday, 23rd September at 6:15pm. For more details and to register for tickets to join Libbi and her star AFL panel go here

It will then be on 774 ABC Melbourne’s Conversation Hour on Thursday, 25th September at 11am, and on ABC TV’s Big Ideas: The Smartest Stuff on TV on Friday, 26th September at 11am and later on IVIEW.
