Kyle sculls a beer on air in Bob Hawke tribute

Staff Writer

As Australia mourns one of its most-beloved prime ministers, tributes have flown in for the longest-serving Labor PM.

For younger Australians, the ex-PM was perhaps better known for his beer-sculling exploits, having set the world record for necking a yard or ale in 11 seconds.

KIIS 106.5‘s Kyle Sandilands decided to get in on the act, sculling a beer live on air this morning as his own way of paying tribute.

The KIIS FM crew got in on the act as well.

“In honour of one of the greatest Prime Ministers that ever lived, cheers to Bob Hawke.”

We’re not certain whether Bob would have approved of Kyle’s beer of choice – a corona.

Doesn’t this break ACMA rules?

1.1.1. presents as desirable:

(a) the misuse of alcoholic liquor; or

(b) the use of illegal drugs, narcotics or tobacco;

Come on John. Are you serious?!
Sounds like a producer from another show who didn’t think of doing the same.
Just heard the station running a promo for it. KIIS nail it everytime.

100% codes breach… KJ producers think they’re being creative, but its super basic content. Looks great on video… but has downing a drink ever sounded good. Basic content, executed well by KJ.

Yeah look, in fairness, I’m not sure if consuming 1 x single alcoholic beverage with pace denotes the misuse of alcohol.

Any ACMA who finds this to be a breach is a bum!
