Kasem’s body goes missing
The tragic 'soap-opera' like saga of Casey Kasem's family disputes has taken a bizarre twist this weekend.
Kasem's daughter, Kerri, saying that Kasem's wife Jean (pictured with Casey) has transferred his body from the morgue in Washington State without the rest of the families knowledge.
Earlier in the week a judge had granted a restraining order preventing Jean Kasem from removing, or cremating, her husbands remains pending a possible autopsy.
However prior to that she had already completed the paperwork, on the quiet, to transfer the body to a destination unknown.
The Kasem children, who include Mike Kasem, an Announcer with Class 95FM in Singapore, reportedly accept that Jean Kasem has the right to bury their father where she wishes; however they are keen for it to be in Los Angeles at the Forest Lawn Cemetery which was where Casey himself had wished to be buried.
The dispute now is less about the burial location, and more about the potential autopsy on the body and what it may reveal.
The Kasem children had filed a complaint with the Los Angeles Police alleging 'elder-abuse' by Jean towards Casey; and any autopsy would form part of that legal investigation.
Casey Kasem died on June 15 aged 82.
