K-Rock / Bay FM join to help the local community

Staff Writer

Grant Broadcasters Geelong stations K-Rock and Bay FM have started a fantastic local initiative alongside the Geelong Advertiser.

After the recent spate of job losses in Geelong, they have setup jobs4geelong.com.au which station GM Andy Mathers says is "a one stop shop, linking through to all local employment agencies, training and service providers to ensure in tough times workers know we are trying help by making the transition as easy as possible."

“We have a duty to report the facts by acknowledging the difficulties faced by workers who lose their jobs as companies such as Alcoa and Ford close their local manufacturing facilities. However there’s a lot more to Geelong than what's being told outside Geelong, and a negative perception is what we’re trying to change.”
