About the Role
We have a rare and career defining opportunity for a new Head of News & Information to join and lead the ARN News function to drive excellence in broadcast news and deliver it in an aligned way to create engaging and informative content for our listeners.
This role is responsible for the news function across both ARN Metro and Regional markets. The Metro news team spreads across 6 ARN office locations consisting of KIIS, Pure Gold, CADA, iHeartRadio as well as the Chemist Warehouse Remix station. The Regional news teams are based within each local, regional station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and execution of the News function for ARN in line with overall Content strategy.
  • Effectively lead and empower the team to produce and present news to an exceptional standard for the relevant station/network with a focus on credibility and accuracy to drive commercial outcomes through increased listener frequency.
  • Work collaboratively with the Content Directors to align on relevant brand and station strategy and ensure local news teams are working effectively towards this.
  • Be responsible for ensuring all programs and program segments comply with the Commercial Radio Code of Practice, radio broadcasting licence conditions, company standards, and any other relevant legislation, codes and standards.

About You 

  • Degree or qualification in Communications/Journalism
  • Knowledge of Media Law, as it applies to radio broadcast/digital in Australia
  • Extensive knowledge in news presentation and radio production
  • Understanding and awareness of audience growth for radio/digital
  • Experience in a similar senior level role leading a large team
  • Ability to create a constructive team culture
  • Influencing and effective stakeholder management skills
  • A desire for creative thinking and innovation
  • Ability to work under pressure and within timeframes, whilst producing a high standard of work
