iHeartRadio Australia is set for an even bigger year in 2017 with plans to launch a new version of the iHeartRadio Australia app powered by Optus, with new features that will change the way audiences engage with live radio.

The new year will also see a new host for the iHeartRadio Countdown, with Jack Laurence taking over the airwaves. Jack will be counting down the 20 hottest iHeartRadio tracks of the week from 4-6pm every Sunday on the KIIS network or on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Jack will also be the new anchor for Hughesy & Kate’s drive show on the national KIIS network from January 2017.

ARN report that the monthly usage of the iHeartRadio Australia platform is up 37% year-on-year, the app download rate is increasing month-on-month and the mobile app version clocked up more than 5,000,000 sessions last month.

iHeartRadio Australia’s Content Director Brett “Nozz” Nossiter said: “2016 was the most successful year yet for iHeartRadio in Australia, and I’m incredibly excited about our plans already in place for 2017. The iHeartRadio LIVE series will continue to grow, a new app, new shows, new stations, and a new host of the iHeartRadio Countdown. Next year is going to be monumental for iHeartRadio.”

Geraint Davies COO of iHeartRadio Australia said: “iHeartRadio Australia has had another amazing year with our monthly usage, registrations and downloads continuing to grow exponentially. For me, the highlight has been seeing some of the biggest names in music perform as part of our iHeartRadio LIVE series. Our partnership with Optus and great relationships with record labels has enabled us to create 10 incredible live experiences for music lovers that money just can’t buy.

“In January 2017 we will be launching a brand new version of the app, which will have lots of new features. We have big plans next year for iHeartRadio Australia with new services that will revolutionise how audiences interact with live radio and find new music.”
