How to quit live on-air

Staff Writer

In late 2008, a US radio station aired audio of a jock at another station quitting live on-air.

The story was that Greg Stepp, who was working at WHJX in Jacksonville, had heard the rumour he was going to be fired later in the week. Before it could happen, he took to the air to thank his listeners and definitely not thank station management.

It was later revealed that Stepp had already been given his notice and had taken a new PD job in California.

Management asked him to create a bit that would bring some attention to the station before announcing the return of "The Greaseman" to the station a couple of weeks later.
