Get back up to speed before Survey 1

Around 9am AEDT this morning Radio Today will publish the Survey 1 results for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, with Perth a bit later in the morning.

Being the first result of 2013, it's worth taking some time before then to get back up to speed on what happened in Survey 8. Because for the first time, that result rolls into what we'll see today.

SYDNEY

2GB MRN 1 14.0 Up 0.5 with key lifts in 55-64 (up 0.7) and still #1 65+ with 31.4% but dropped 4.3 in that demo. Breakfast now up to 18.2% (up 0.9)
ABC702 ABC 2 10.4 Down 0.2 with slight increase 40-64. Breakfast up 0.6 to 13.7%, down across the workday with a 1.4 drop in nights (10.0% -> 8.6%)
2Day FM SCA 3 8.4 Dropped from 9.1%, down 0.7. Big hit with 10-17's, down 12.2. Also down 2.1 with 18-24's. They lifted 0.9 with 25-39's. Kyle & Jackie O fell 1.8 – 12.1% to 10.3% and relatively steady across the rest of the station.
Nova 969 dmg 4 7.3 Breakfast , mornings and drive remain relatively steady with arvos dropping 0.6 and nights lifting 0.7 to be 10.3%
WSFM ARN 5 7.1 Jonesy & Amanda back to #2FM Breakfast with 7.2%, 0.9 ahead of Nova
Smooth FM dmg 6 5.8 A good 0.5 lift for Smooth with 0.8 up with 40-54's and 1.8 up with 65+. Workday strong lifts of 1.2 and 1.8.
2CH MRN =7 5.3 Up 0.6 mainly coming from 55-64 (0.8) and 65+ (2.5). Every shift prior to nights up 0.6
2UE Fairfax =7 5.3 Strong lift to end the year, up 0.8 with lifts in all key demo's and in all but 1 shift (mornings)
Triple J ABC =8 5.2 Up in all demo's with the highlight under 25. Breakfast steady and all other shifts increased share by over 1.0
Triple M SCA =8 5.2 Up 0.9 with 40-54 increase of 4.2. All shifts also up -breakfast 1.3, mornings 1.0, arvos 1.3 and drive 0.5
Mix 106.5 ARN 9 4.5 While the station only went down 0.3, 2UE, 2CH, Triple M and Triple J have jumped over Mix 106.5 in the 10+ ranking.

3AW Fairfax 1 15.0 Dropped 0.9 but retain #1 spot. Main losses came from all demos over 40 but still dominant. All dayparts are down – 1.1 at breakfast and 1.6 at mornings the key losses.
ABC774 ABC 2 11.6 Up 0.2 with 40-64 demo increasing. All dayparts remained steady with marginal movement.
Fox FM SCA 3 9.5 Down below 10% with losses in all key demo's. All dayparts were also down with arvos and drive taking the main hit.
Nova 100 dmg 4 7.5 Good lifts under 25 and still #1 25-39. Main increases were arvos and drive where Fox dropped. Hughesy & Kate also up 0.4.
Mix 101.1 ARN 5 7.1 Biggest riser in the market (up 1.0 to 7.1%) and Chrissie & Jane are also the biggest risers in breakfast. Solid increases 25-54 and lifts in all dayparts after breakfast too.
Gold ARN 6 6.7 Down 1.2 with 40-54 down 3.4 and 55-64 down 1.4. All dayparts dropped, the workday shifts taking the main hit.
Triple M SCA 7 6.2 Relatively steady across the dayparts, only slight changes. Breakfast down 0.5 with arvos up 1.1.
Magic Fairfax 8 6.0 Good 1.2 lift with 55-64's, breakfast up 0.3, drive up 0.6.
Triple J ABC 9 5.2 Up 0.3 overall, mainly coming from under 40. All shifts up or steady aside from nights, down 1.4.
Smooth FM dmg 10 4.9 Up 0.4 and grew mainly with 55-64's (up 1.2). All dayparts up with breakfast up 0.5.
SEN Pacific 11 4.3 Breakfast up 0.6 and drive also up 0.5. Key demo lift is with 55-64's (up 0.9)

 

BRISBANE

97.3FM ARN 1 13.5 Strong result with 25-39's up 6.4, 40-54 up 3.2 (#1) and 55-64 up 1.8. Breakfast up 2.0, workday up 5.8 in mornings (#1) and 4.4 in afternoons (#1). Drive, nights and weekends also up.
Nova 106.9 dmg 2 13.1 Down 1.2, 0.4 away from 97.3. Key losses in 18-24 (while still #1) and 40-54 (down 3.4). Key dayparts were down – breakfast 1.4 (still #1FM), mornings 3.4, arvos 1.9 and drive only down 0.1. Nights also up in Brisbane from 10.2% to 11.8%.
ABC612 ABC 3 11.3 Flat Breakfast up 0.5 and widening gap to Nova (now 3.2). Down 1.1 with 65+ but still #1
B105 SCA 4 11.0 Into the 11's with increase of 0.6. Strongest lift came from 18-24's (5.6). Strong workday result with both shifts up (mornings 1.9 and arvos 1.4)
Triple M SCA 5 8.6 Daypart losses mainly came under 40 (down 4.9 18-24's, down 4.3 25-39's) but increases over 40 (up 3.6 40-54's). Breakfast, workday and drive all down with mornings taking the main hit – down 2.4.
Triple J ABC 6 7.3 Another lift for JJJ with 18-39 seeing the main increase. Their workday result also has seen lifts over 1.0
4KQ ARN 7 6.6 Down 0.9 with 2.1 down with 55-64's (still #1) and 3.5 down 65+. All shifts were down with afternoons the biggest hit, down 1.4
4BH Fairfax 8 6.1 Flat Steady 10+ but strong increase 55-64, up 5.7 to 16.7% with breakfast up 0.8 to 5.6%
4BC Fairfax 9 5.4 Down 0.7 with all dayparts down

 

ADELAIDE          
           
Station Network Pos 10+ Move Observations
Mix 102.3 ARN 1 15.5 Up 0.3 10+ but strong demo result, especially 25-39, up 4.1 and #1. Breakfast is up 0.7 and now #2 behind Fiveaa and in front of ABC891. Workday shifts are #1 with drive their only blip, down 1.0 but #1FM. Nights were also up 2.7.
Fiveaa dmg 2 13.2 Relatively flat result, down 0.1 but increased demo share with 40-54 (up 1.2) and up 3.9 with 55-64's. Breakfast was up 0.8 to 15.0% with increases in workday and drive. Nights were down 5.2 (to 15.5%) and Bob Francis loses the top spot to the ABC.
ABC891 ABC 3 11.7 Up 0.2 with demo highlight being 40-54, up 1.3. Breakfast down slightly (0.3) and now #3 in the market. Drive was up 1.5 to 10.2% and nights is now #1 with 16.5% (up 2.8).
Nova 91.9 dmg 4 10.0 Flat Increased share under 25 but lost #1 25-39 position to Mix. Breakfast was down 0.5 and drive down 1.1 with slight increase across the workday.
Triple M SCA 5 9.4 Up slighty (0.2) with main demo increase coming from 10-17's, they will be very happy with
Cruise1323 ARN 6 8.1 Up 0.9 and has placed itself above SAFM. Their main demo increase came from 65+, up 5.5. All shifts increased share.
SAFM SCA 7 7.9 Not a good day for SAFM. Overall they were down 1.6 with demo drops in 10-17 (11.2 !) and 25-39 (5.4). Breakfast went from 9.0% to 6.9% (down 2.1) and all other shifts taking a hit too. Considering this result rolls into S1, they will be hoping the introduction of Hamish & Andy to 9am will help them kick of 2013 strongly.
Triple J ABC 8 5.6 The only market where Triple J has lost ground, down 0.3. They were down with 18-24's, 5.6 while growing 25-39's by 1.9.

 

PERTH          
           
Station Network Pos 10+ Move Observations
Mix 94.5 SCA 1 14.2 Up 0.9 and increased share with 10-17's (up 6.1), 25-39's (up 1.9) and 55-64 (up 2.0). Breakfast up 1.1 and still #2 behind ABC. Mornings were up 1.3 and arvos 1.6.
96FM Fairfax 2 11.7 The big gainers, going from #4 to #2 with 10+ increase of 1.4. Their main demo lift came from 40-54, up 4.9 to 20.6%. Workday, drive and nights were their daypart winners with nights going from 10.1% to 15.3% (#1).
ABC720 ABC 3 10.6 Down 1.2 with drops in all demo's aside from 55-64, up 2.9. Breakfast was down 1.2 but still retain #1 but only by 0.5 over Mix.
Nova 93.7 dmg =4 10.1 Now equal 4th in the market, level pegging with Triple J and only 0.1 in front of 92.9. They were also on the receiving end of a big drop with 10-17's (down 5.7). Breakfast remained relatively steady with drive up 1.3 (0.2 off #1) and nights down 3.3.
Triple J ABC =4 10.1 Up 0.7 and level with Nova. Strong 18-39 figures for the j's in Perth with all dayparts competitive with the commercial FM stations.
92.9 SCA 5 10.0 Up 0.7 and 0.1 off Nova. Increases came from 10-17's (up 3.3) and 25-39 (up 2.3). Breakfast was up 1.0 and ahead of 96FM, mornings and afternoons were also up, drive was down 1.0.
6PR Fairfax 6 8.3 3.8 down with 40-54's and 3.0 with 55-64's. With 65+ they increased share 4.7 to be #1 with 22.5%. Breakfast up 0.6 and still #3, all other shifts went down.
6IX Capital 7 5.6 All key demo's were down and all shifts down too, aside from a 0.6 increase at night.
