Nova’s Matty J joins Dancing With The Stars cast

Staff Writer

Nova’s ‘Matty J’ Johnson will compete alongside Fox FM’s Fifi Box on the upcoming Dancing With The Stars on Channel 7.

The series has been billed as an All-Stars format with former winners and contestants returning to the dance floor. Johnson, however, has not competed before, and will be part of the competition as a wild card alongside the likes of convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby, TV host Renee Bargh, and model/actress Jessica Gomes.

Johnson has previously hosted Saturday Breakfast on Sydney’s Nova 96.9 alongside Fitzy & Wippa team members Matt de Groot and Sarah McGilvray. The team has also filled in over summer.

Johnson also has a podcast on the Nova Podcast Network, The Babble. He originally co-hosted with musician, actress and performer Natalie Bassingthwaighte, however she left the program and was replaced by producer Ruby Teys.

In addition to Box, other returning contestants include Bec Hewitt, Tom Williams, Ada Nicodemou, Luke Jacobz, Manu Feidel, Lincoln Lewis, Erin McNaught, Kyly Clark and Jamie Durie

Seven Network’s programming director, Angus Ross, said: “This unmissable television event is sure to capture the heart of Australia, putting just the right amount of nostalgia on a brand new stage.

“We’ve assembled a cracking cast of winners, finalists, fan favourites and fascinating wildcards who are all ready to tear up the floor. We can’t wait.”

The hosts and judges for Dancing With The Stars: All Stars will be announced soon.
