There has been no single client who has caused more internal debate within radio station boardrooms and executive meetings than AMI and their nasal spray product over recent years.

The company is a heavy user of commercial radio, and on the Radio Today 'biggest advertiser' charts (on the airplay menu tab) they are consistently in the top 10 in many markets. However this heavy advertising also helps to make AMI the most complained about client on commercial radio.

The AMI advertising divides opinion within radio groups:

  • Some argue that as a legal business they have every right to advertise their product.
  • Some argue that they force listeners, particularly in cars with children, to change stations.
  • Some believe they should be allowed to advertise with heavy restrictions on the language used.
