Absolute Hamish & Andy

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo's Hamish & Andy have announced a dual broadcast with Christian O'Connell from Absolute Radio in London in a fortnight.

The Christian O'Connell show has around a million listeners each morning on Absolute Radio, and with the combined listenership of Hamish & Andy in Australia, it will be a huge audience.

The content will be a mix of British and Australian topical news, sport, interviews, and presumably very little music: Absolute is a Classic Rock station, so has zero musical crossover with the Today Network.

Hamish & Andy commented; "For years we've been bombarded by our callers wanting accurate traffic updates in London, now finally we'll be in a position to give it to them. We can't wait!"

Absolute Radio Breakfast Show Host, Christian O’Connell (right) said;

“Hamish and Andy are great friends of mine and it’s going to be an amazing show for both of us.  Two countries linked up across the oceans for live radio – you know it’s never been done before but as long as we remember to pay the satellite bill we’ll be fine.”

The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show, nominated for ‘Best Breakfast Show’ in the 2012 Sony Radio Academy Awards is the current holder of the ‘Best Commercial Radio Breakfast Show’ title.
The Hamish & Andy / Christian O'Connell show will air on Friday 18 May from 4-6pm in Australia and 7-9am in the United Kingdom.
