92.9 breakfast host takes the bull by the horns

92.9 Perth breakfast host Lisa Fernandez is trying her hand at something she's always wanted to do – stand up comedy.

Lisa entered the Raw Comedy competition and on Thursday night took to the stage.

She has no plans to leave radio, and has told WA News:

"It's something I have always wanted to do and I have dabbled in it in the last couple of years but this was the year I thought 'OK Lisa, take the bull by the horns and just go for it'."

She has always been very transparent on-air, revealing a lot of her personal life with her listeners. But she says having haters is part of the job.

"You have got to expect that being in the publilc eye, does it hurt my feelings ? Yes, absolutely. Have I cried about some of the stuff people have said ? Of course, I am a human being. Have I been distraught about what people have said about my parenting ? More than I'd ever be able to talk about."

"But that's life, that's the career I've chosen."
