2UE raise $837k for the kids

Staff Writer

Yesterday 2UE held their Christmas Appeal for The Children's Hospital at Westmead. They broadcast live from 5.30am through until 9pm, including Dicko & Sarah, Paul Murray, Stuart Bocking, Jason Morrison and Sports Today.

2UE ended up raising $837,000 for much needed medical equipment that will help many of the kids leave so they can spend Christmas at home with their families.

Special guests also dropped by to perform including Anthony Callea, Damien Leith, Jasmine Rae, Marina Prior, Adam Brand, Glenn Shorrock and Brian Cadd, Paulini, and The Collective.

After the event, Chris Parker (left), GM of 2UE said, “Today has been an extraordinary day as 2UE has helped bring together the businesses and communities of Sydney to unite for this fantastic cause. It has been a truly humbling experience for all concerned and what a comfort it is to know that there is a community out there that cares enough to help raise $837,000 on this wonderful day.”

Jannine Jackson, Head of Fundraising at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead said, “On behalf of all the staff and volunteers, I wanted to say thank you to 2UE and its listeners. We feel humbled by the outpouring of generosity from today. The total we have reached has far exceeded my expectations and means that desperately needed equipment can be purchased for seriously sick children. What a difference a day can make.”
