2 Melbourne stations prepare for the Grand Final

Two major commercial players in the Melbourne radio football war have been very active this week. Here's what both have been doing in the lead up to the big day and what they have planned for tomorrow.

3AW conducted live crosses from the Parade this afternoon then tonight from 6pm Sports Today with Tim Lane, Shane McInness & Brisbane triple premiership player Chris Johnson will have all the colour from the parade along with the press conferences with the Coaches & Captains.


10.00am – 12.00pm : Grand Final Day kicks off with Tony Leonard, Russell Gilbert, Bruce Eva, Chris Johnson & Mick Warner. Shane McInnes will be in the crowd with all the colour of Grand Final Day. Mike Brady will perform around 11.50am.

12.00pm – 2.00pm : Brian Taylor, Dwayne Russell, Matthew Lloyd, Leigh Matthews, Cameron Ling, Tony Shaw along with Caroline Wilson & Mike Sheahan will be outside gate 3. Guests will include Vic Super player of the year Joel Selwood from Geelong and Good Guys goal of the year winner Andrew Walker from the Blues. Plus their Grand Final ticket giveaway. Listeners just need to bring a Toyota banner that is football related to have a chance of winning tickets to the game.

2.00pm – 6.00pm : Match coverage with Brian Taylor, Tim Lane, Matthew Lloyd, Tony Shaw, stats with Seb Costello & Doc Larkins on the boundary.

6.00pm – 7.00pm : The Grand Final Wrap Up with coverage from the winners and losers rooms with Doc Larkins. The 3AW team will dissect the match with Tim Lane, Matthew Lloyd, Seb Costello & Tony Shaw.

Meanwhile on the FM side of things, this morning The Triple M Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire, Mick Molloy and Luke Darcy held their biggest show of the year from Melbourne Public. With live performances from Eskimo Joe, British India, Paul Dempsey, Mark Seymour plus guests Wayne Carey, Chris Judd and Jude Bolton.

This afternoon the Rush Hour with James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless will broadcast from the Grand Final Eve Lunch at Crown. This follows the duo broadcasting from the red carpet of the Brownlow Medal and from the rehearsals of last night’s Channel Nine’s The Footy Show Grand Final episode.


9.00am – 12.00pm : Dead Set Legends hosted by Mark Howard plus Nathan Brown, Scott Cummings, Wayne Carey and special guests.

12.00pm – 2.00pm : The Rub broadcast from outside the MCG with James Brayshaw, Garry Lyon, Danny Frawley, Damien Barrett, Luke Darcy, Wayne Carey and guests.

2.00pm – 6.00pm : The Grand Final Footy Call with James Brayshaw, Garry Lyon, Danny Frawley, Damien Barret, Luke Darcy, Ash Chua, Mark Howard, and Dr. Rohan White.

6.00pm – 8.00pm : Triple M live from the Virgin Australia Premiership Party featuring Birds of Tokyo and Hunters & Collectors.

8.30pm – 10.30pm : Triple M will replay the Grand Final in full.
