Vale Deb Cameron

Tributes are flowing for former ABC Sydney presenter and Fairfax journalist Deb Cameron, who has passed away at the age of 60.

Cameron hosted Mornings on ABC 702 Sydney for four years, taking over from Virginia Trioli in 2007. She signed off for the final time in 2011.

In a statement, director of ABC Regional and Local Radio Michael Mason says her death has affected many at the national broadcaster.

“Deb’s many friends at ABC Radio are saddened to hear of her passing. Deb made a significant contribution to ABC Sydney for many years as both a guest commentator and presenter.

“Our thoughts are with her family at this time.”

In a tweet, 7.30’s Leigh Sales described her as a ‘lovely and warm woman’, while ABC colleague Richard Glover has called her ‘smart, funny and sincere’.

Cameron was married to Australian Financial Review journalist Greg Earl and had two children.

It’s understood she passed away after a long illness that followed a battle with breast cancer.
