SCA dominate Townsville in S1/16

The Townsville market has had its 2016 survey results released this morning, the final regional survey release for the year, and the first with the new branding and positioning for the Grant Broadcasters duopoly.

The results show a comprehensive win for the SCA duopoly with 4TO FM in the leading position on 21.7% overall, closely followed by sister station Hot FM on 21.1%.

The two Grant Broadcasters stations, Power (formerly Zinc) and Star (formerly 106.3) are well behind.

Power has improved 1.4 to 8.6%, whilst Star has shed nearly 5 points to register an 8.7%.

Triple J are narrowly behind on 8.3%, whilst ABC Local Radio is in 3rd spot overall on 8.9%.

In the demos it’s Hot FM for everyone under 40, and 4TO FM for everyone over 40. In the dayparts, 4TO FM wins the workday, whilst Hot FM wins Breakfast (just) and Drive.

And in the all important cume metric, the SCA stations are well in front.

For Power and Star, given they reformatted only a couple of months ago, no doubt this survey will be one they’ll be pleased to put behind them, however for SCA’s Hot and 4TO it will be drinks all round at the blue block on Woolcock today.
