Triple M Unlocks the Rubber Room – Ugly Phil Talks about it

Staff Writer

After 16 years being off-air, The Rubber Room is being un-locked.

Come October 12 Phil O’Neil will launch a new, old Triple M night show across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We talk to Ugly Phil about what’s planned.

Triple M Network Head of Content Mike Fitzpatrick said, “In its day, The Rubber Room was chaotic and strange. I’m concerned and a little disturbed that I even want it back on air. However, I could think of no worse person than Phil to host it. He’ll invoke the spirit of our late comrade to once again wreak havoc on the Australian night time audience. New rock, compelling content and Phil exorcising the voices in his head. I can’t wait.”

The Triple M Rubber Room was last on air in the late 90’s, hosted by the late John Kennedy. Back then Ugly Phil was with Jackie O doing the Hot30. Phil tell us what he is looking forward too with being back on nights and he tells us about the guts of the new Rubber Room on Triple M.

With a gap in Triple M Sydney’s workday, Jacqui Kassulke takes Phil’s shift. And in other Triple M news, Matt White replaces Brad Hulme as Executive Producer of the Grill Team in Sydney.
