Triple M Riverina’s Pottsy & Leighton call time on a quarter century together

Former Assistant Editor

1152 Riverina Triple M’s Breakfast team Pottsy and Leighton have called time on 25 years as a duo.

The duo have been together for 18 years in the Wagga market alone, having moved to the town in the year 2000.

Pottsy and Leighton worked at Star FM for 13 years, before jumping ship to 2WG, which has since rebranded to Triple M.

Leighton is retiring from radio altogether, leaving to focus on leisurely bike rides, cruising the seas, and waiting for St George to win another premiership.

Pottsy decided to follow suit, giving up almost 40 years of Breakfast radio. He is staying in the industry though, becoming the content director of SCA Wagga and Griffith.

“After 18 years on air in Wagga Pottsy & Leighton hosted their final show this morning,” said GM Jennifer Hand.

“Their dedication to entertaining and informing the people of the Riverina over the years is commendable.

Pottsy and Leighton made an outstanding contribution to the local community whilst on Brekky in the Riverina, having raised more than $300,000 over their first five years on air which led to the creation of Wagga’s Kids Kottage/Ronald McDonald House.

They were then the driving force behind Wagga Wagga Takes 2 which has raised a further 3 million dollars for Riverina community organisations since 2007.

On their final show they announced that this year’s Give Me 5 For Kids appeal in the Riverina had generated $128,996.34.

Pottsy and Leighton were also nominated for the Best On Air Team ACRA award for 5 consecutive years, winning in 2003.

“Throughout their journey they have supported many local charities, raising much-needed funds for the local community.

“On behalf of Southern Cross Austereo I want to thank them both for their commitment and congratulate them on their successful career together”

Today, September 28, was their last show, and they’ll be replaced by Danielle Jerrick and Leigh Ryan, who start on Tuesday October 2.
