triple j is bringing ‘Girls To The Front’ for International Women’s Day tomorrow

Former Assistant Editor

triple j has announced its all-female announcer lineup for International Women’s Day tomorrow, March 8.

For Breakfast, regular Weekend Arvos duo Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett will take the reins from Ben and Liam.

Linda Marigliano remains on mornings, while Weekend Lunch host Karla Ranby will present Lunch instead of Alex Dyson.

Gen Fricker is set to be joined by Montaigne and Jess Perkins on Drive, while Alice Matthews takes over Hack duties, followed by Bridget Hustwaite‘s regular Good Nights.

Finally, Home & Hosed will be hosted by Uppy Chatterjee and The Hip Hop Show falls to Michelle Grace Hunder and Sose Fuamoli.

triple j’s assistant music director Gemma Pike will be programming music by female artists and female-fronted bands across the entire day.

It will be “very similar to a normal triple j day, but with even more female musicians!” says Pike.

“It’s amazing that something so simple can instil such a sense of power and positivity. It’s great that at any time of the day a young girl can turn on the radio and be inspired by women just like her. Basically it’s a big warm fuzzy.”

Similarly, triple j Unearthed will cop an all-female lineup thanks to Australian music producer Claire Mooney, and Double J’s day of tunes will be programed by Dorothy Markek.

triple j have also put together a story on why the station feels it’s important to bring ‘Girls To The Front’ on International Women’s Day.

triple j’s programming fits in as part of the wider ABC Radio network featuring women across the board tomorrow.
