SCA’s ‘Listen Up’ is tackling men’s mental health

Staff Writer

SCA is raising awareness around men’s mental health with a one-hour statewide simulcast – ‘Listen Up’ – airing in Western Australia tonight at 6pm.

Following on from previous campaigns on ice addiction and drink driving, ‘Listen Up’ features first-hand accounts of male depression from AFL star Wayne Swass, as well as an insightful interview with Dr Stephen Carbone from Beyond Blue.

‘Listen Up’ will be broadcast across all SCA stations in WA, including hit92.9, mix94.5, Hit FM and Triple M.

Hosting the conversation is hit92.9’s Heidi Anderson & Will McMahon, and mix94.5’s Matt Dyktynski.

They will delve in to the relationship between mental health and FIFO lifestyles, highlighting the raw conversation between hit92.9’s Will & Woody on role depression has played in their friendship.

“Men’s mental health is a topic that needs to be more openly discussed and so, this ‘Listen Up’ is really pushing to normalise the conversation,” said Gina Hogan, SCA Perth general manager.

“SCA is proud to stand behind our own staff who have had personal experiences with mental health issues, as well as stand behind the people of WA who may be going through similar situations.”
