GfK survey reveals 85.2% of New Zealanders listen to radio each week

GfK has today revealed the results of the 2018 Total New Zealand Radio Measurement Survey 1, revealing that over 3.5 million people ages 10+ listen to radio on weekly basis.

Breakfast radio is the most popular, with 2,878,900 million people aged 10+ tuning in on an average week.

The survey also found that 569,000 different people are reached by Network RNZ National, a 10.8% share of total weekly radio listening in New Zealand.

Network RNZ Concert had a weekly reach of 145,800.

“RNZ continues to play a leading role in a robust and thriving New Zealand radio market,” says RNZ chief executive and editor-in-chief Paul Thompson.

“The latest GfK survey underlines the value of RNZ’s commitment to engaging with a range of different audiences.

“Now more than ever people need access to independent, trusted information and our strength in radio provides a firm foundation for RNZ’s expansion into multimedia news, current affairs and entertainment.”
