“Ouchy. That wasn’t very Christian”: Bodger and O’Connell in April Fools fail

Staff Writer

It’s April’s Fool Day; a day when jokes abound. Some are clever and others miss the mark and fail miserably.

But the really good ones take on a life of their own.

Jason Bodger from Hit mid-north coast has managed to pull off a ripper at the expense of soon-to-be Gold 104.3FM breakfast host Christian O’Connell, who was none too happy.

A convincing looking Facebook post, linked to Radio Today, announced the “deal of the decade” was off and O’Connell was staying in the UK. His place was to be taken by the SCA Breakfast announcer.

It touched off a Twitter war that soon involved Triple M Adelaide’s Sean Craig Murphy, whose radio school Bodge appears to have attended.

For the record, O’Connell will join Gold FM on June 4 and will bid farewell to his UK audience with live shows from a Clapham theatre on May 9.

As for Bodge, O’Connell is still looking for an off-sider, so you just never know.
