Not the Merc!

What a difference nine days can make.

This time nine days ago, Alan Jones was preparing for a long weekend away, when the story broke of his ill-considered speech regarding the Prime Minister's father.

We're all well aware of the fallout since then, and the latest is 2GB sponsor Mercedes Benz advising Jones that he must return the complimentary car they have provided for him.

In the past week, Mercedes Benz have cancelled all their advertising on 2GB and their corporate communications manager, David McCarthy, has told news limited;

""We were appalled and shocked at the lack of respect (the comments) expressed, we want the car back, the deal is cancelled, it is over".

He went on to say that should Jones not return the black 2012 S-Class Mercedes by the end of the month the car would be collected by the company. In their statement last week about their advertising, Mercedes Benz had said;

"We have terminated ALL (sic) commercial arrangements with 2GB. We cannot see a circumstance that will see us returning to advertising"

News Limited have claimed that Macquarie are discounting advertising rates on 2GB for new advertisers as the company attempts to fill the revenue void from the loss of what is now nearly 70 clients.
