Geoff Field returns to Sydney radio

Former 2Day FM newsreader Geoff Field will make his return to radio with the Super Radio Network in their Sydney hub.

Field, whose departure from Austereo was well publicised, has been nominated for Four ACRA’s for best metropolitan newsreader. He was also named on the list of the top metro newsreaders of all time on Radio Today two years ago.

Prior to 2DayFM, where he spent 18 years, he worked at 2GB so producing news content on the AM band will be a return of sorts.

Field commented:

“I have spent the last year travelling the world, and have not been looking for work. I have been offered some jobs in regional cities, but Jason (partner) and I are set here in Sydney with a house, and he has his own career producing at 2GB, and running his own business, so that was not an option.

But recently I received a call from 2SM, and asked whether I would like to work with them in their newsroom which supplies news to not only 2SM, but to dozens of AM and and FM stations who are part of the ”Super Radio Network”.

I went in for an interview a few weeks ago and was most impressed with their commitment to serious news, and the fact they had reporters that went out the the scene of stories, at a time when many newsrooms are cutting back on resources”.

Geoff Field will commence in his new role next week.
