SCA deny any move on Rove & Sam (updated at 11.15am)

With Hamish & Andy set to make the leap back into TV in the New Year, it will potentially leave a big gap in the Hit Networks weekday line-up strategy, and whilst there have been rumours for some time regarding the ‘Rove & Sam’ show, they have today appeared in the mainstream press.

The Telegraph is reporting today that 2DayFM’s Rove McManus and Sam Frost could be moved from 2Day FM Breakfast to National Drive. This is based, in part, on the assumption that Hamish & Andy will be finishing with SCA at the end of the year.

Southern Cross Austereo have stated that the rumours are incorrect and that there will be no change, saying: “We’re firmly committed to Rove & Sam as our 2DayFM 104.1 Sydney breakfast hosts – there are no and will be no changes to this line up.”

This position is consistent with SCA’s comments regarding ‘Rove & Sam’ over recent times, with the company having been on the record with their support for the show saying that they accept that the building of audience will take time, and that they’re prepared to give it that time.

With Em Rusciano re-joining the network for a new national show on Sunday nights, the Telegraph quotes ‘industry insiders’ as saying that Em and Osher Gunsberg are the likely new 2Day FM Breakfast team, should a change occur – which according to SCA will not happen.

Osher Gunsberg made a return to radio as part of hit105 Brisbane’s breakfast team this year, between juggling his role on Ten’s The Bachelor, and Em has a successful history in radio in Perth hosting Breakfast with a growing national profile.
