Southern Cross Austereo Not For Sale

Staff Writer

Following last week’s AGM and SCA CEO Grant Blackley recently calling for Cross media laws to be abolished, Chairman of SCA Peter Bush has been quoted in the press denying rumours of a possible sale of the network to Nine Entertainment.

Generally talk of a sale or merger can be quite destabilising for radio or any media companies. Bush has told The Australian that the rumours are a ‘distraction’.

There have been constant rumours and stories of the two companies merging if and when the media laws change. Bush also has strong connections with Nine executives, having spent time on the Nine Board.

Grant BlackleyHe told The Australian that the company has spent quite a bit of time focusing on improving the business.

Bush said of CEO Grant Blackley: “Grant hasn’t been there very long but he’s done a lot of reorganising to create a simpler structure. He’s driven continuous improvement in the business by getting sales to be more efficient and effective, making sure talent is working as best it can and where we don’t have the right talent on air, doing what needs to be done. He’s put a lot of effort and time into improving the quality of existing programming.”
