Bradnam suspended by Nova

Staff Writer

Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 has moved swiftly to suspend Breakfast Host Ashley Bradnam after he was charged with drink driving on Saturday night.

Police have confirmed that Bradnam registered a blood alcohol reading of over 0.15% following a traffic incident in Runaway Bay.

Nova 106.9’s General Manager Jay Walkerden said he was:

“shocked and disappointed by the news of Ashley’s charges. Ashley has sincerely apologised for his behaviour. He understands that his behaviour was wrong and potentially put others at risk.”

Bradnam has previously faced drink driving charges, in 2009 recording 0.214 after heading home to the Coast following his breakfast shift, being fired and, following rehab, subsequently rehired by Nova in 2011.

Bradnam’s co-host David Lutterall has commented on his co-hosts challenges:

“It’s a tough one, Ash has an addiction and it doesn’t just go away, he’s had problems before but I can assure everyone it’s something he takes seriously and he’s taking measures now to get himself back on track.”

Walkerden went on to say:

We take this matter very seriously and accordingly have immediately suspended Ashley from the station. This matter is now before the courts. After a period of rehabilitation Ashley rejoined Nova in 2011 and he has been incident free for four years. He has been part of the successful Ash, Kip and Luttsy breakfast team since”.

“In April, Ash, his two sons, Levi (11) and Sidney (9) and co-hosts Kip and Luttsy, walked the Kokoda Track to commemorate the 100 years of the Anzacs in Gallipoli and support Mates4Mates.”
