They smashed it!

They were hoping to top last year’s record and they smashed it. i98FM’s Camp Quality Convoy raised $1,539,000.

Camp Quality Illawarra’s Bill White announced the final tally for the Convoy with the i98's Marty Haynes and Bianca Dye this morning.

Sunday they celebrated their 10 year anniversary with 791 trucks and over 1,200 motorbikes travelling through the Illawarra.

To top off the day, a crowd of over 10,000 people came to see Guy Sebastian, Taylor Henderson, Dami Im and local band The Villains perform.

Over the last Ten Years, $5,952,921.30 has been raised for Camp Quality since the first convoy in 2005.

All funds raised go directly to Camp Quality Illawarra who brightens the lives of kids with cancer by bringing hope and happiness to them and their families through dedicated support programs.

Last Thursday the coveted position as the lead truck in the Convoy was fought out live to air with Marty and Bianca. Winning top spot with a bid of $192,000 was ‘The People’s Truck’ owned by Derek McMahon of McMahon’s Transport.

Coastal Windows also contributed $160,000 to the cause, along with MJ Rowles’ $85,000 and Illawarra Truck Repairs and Spares’ $83,000.

Wednesday last week the auction to lead the motorbikes in the Convoy was $60,000, going to local Camp Quality Mum Bec Stewart whose son Blaine was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

For anyone wishing to see more of this year’s event, a documentary about the Convoy will air on the WIN Network on Saturday, December 21.
