Alan Jones: “Everything’s going to be fine”

Staff Writer

Alan Jones visited the 2GB studios this morning (13 Feb) to chat with Ray Hadley about his health and the future of his radio show.

“I do feel embarrassed, we’ve had so many false starts,” Jones joked to Hadley on-air.

Jones spoke of his most recent surgery, his fourth in as many months, from which is recovering now. He’s expected to return in around three weeks.

Jones also took the opportunity to ask St Vincents Hospital management to fix the air conditioning on level ten for the hospital’s “wonderful staff”. And then, in true Alan Jones fashion, he was straight into politics.

Yesterday Radio Today reported that Ray Hadley is temporarily stepping into Jones’ coveted breakfast shift from today, as Jones recovers from his third surgery – this time on his neck.

Hadley will be on-air for 5½-hours every weekday, from 5.30am to 11am, covering both breakfasts and mornings, “for at least three weeks”.

Chris Smith, who was previously filling in for Jones, will return to afternoons today. Smith’s show will begin an hour earlier, on-air between 11am and 3pm.

Jones finished his chat with Hadley today by thanking Hadley for keeping his seat warm.
