Meshel Laurie hosts ABC Melbourne Summer Breakfast
ABC Melbourne has taken an out-of-the-box approach to its Summer Breakfast programming, with Meshel Laurie kicking off her stint on the show this morning.
Rather than the tried and tested approach of using the likes of finding an internal Breakfast replacement, ABC Melbourne has tapped up the commercial radio host for the slot.
“This is a dream come true for me,” said Meshel in her first break this morning.
“Here I am, Meshel Laurie, on ABC Melbourne Breakfast. Just filling in for a couple of weeks.”
A comedian, author and TV personality, Laurie broke through into radio with Meshel, Ash, Kip & Luttsy in 2005 on Nova 106.9.
She then had stints on Nova 100 and national Drive as part of the Meshel, Tim & Marty show (replaced by Kate Ritchie in 2014).
Laurie most recently hosted the Matt & Meshel Breakfast show on KIIS 101.1. The show was axed in 2017.

I was a bit shocked at first, but have really warmed to you Meshel, especially this morning hen you spoke to the ant immigration man re. his tenuous link between horses, Plovers & immigrants. What a laugh, you called him out for exactly what he was, good on you!
What a breath of fresh air , instead of two people laughing and talking at the same time , she is interesting ,funny , and informed .
I think she brings a fresh approach. I particularly like her ‘dry’ sense of humour

I posted yesterday and my comment was reasoned but negative and not published. Are comments censored? Mershel Laurie is not what I expect at ABC with her ill informed comments, constant references to her personal life and many judgmental statements couched as a caring outlook when really she is critical of anyone who does not approach life as she does.
Meshel,I have become a fan of your work.You are entertaining and as another listener said “you bring joy “I especially liked your program which dealt with body image-At 73 l am beginning to realise that my body is only part of who l am . It has aged but within it lives a vibrant personality.Still a work in progress. Don’t lose the empathy and love that is such a large part of who you are.Margaret
Mishel has been absolutely fantastic on ABC breakfast.
She is intelligent, honest and highly entertaining.
Well done ABC for appointing someone outside the organisation to this time slot.
She needs to be a permanent fixture.

Wish she was permanent. When she goes we’ll be back to tuning in to ABC at 7.45am
