Melbourne Press Club’s Quill Award winners

The Melbourne Press Club has recognised excellence in Victorian journalism at the annual Quill Awards, held at Crown Palladium.

There were two radio specific awards: Radio Current Affairs and Radio News, which attracted high quality entries.

ABC Local Radio’s Bridget Judd beat out industry heavyweights to pick up the Quill for “Behind Bars”, which examined the plight of women in Victorian jails.

Judd was also nominated for 2017 Young Journalist of the Year Award, which was taken out by Cassie Zervos of the Herald-Sun

In the Radio News Category, there were four shortlisted entries with the Quill won by the 3AW Afternoon Program for its extraordinary coverage of the Bourke Street Tragedy.

These two awards were among 29 Quills handed out at last night’s function with the Quills recognising the best in journalism across print, broadcasting and digital media.

The Melbourne Press Club Awards are open to members and non-members, whose work is published, aired or broadcast in Victoria.
