Keeping tabs on your competitors Facebook strategy just got easier

Facebook is rolling out a new feature to bring more transparency to Ads and Pages.

With social content becoming a vital part of the marketing of any radio station, and of course the talent behind every radio show, it’s more important than ever to keep tabs on what the competition is doing.

Enter Facebook’s latest feature.

The new ‘Info and Ads’ tab, now visible at the bottom of a Pages’ menu, gives users access to a newsfeed display of all ads and sponsored posts run by that page.

An article posted this morning on Facebook’s newsroom says that greater transparency surrounding organisations and the ads they are running “will mean increased accountability for advertisers, helping to prevent abuse on Facebook.”

With the ability to view all active Ads running across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook partner networks, as well as information about Pages such as recent name changes and date of creation (with more info to come over the next few weeks), this seems to be their crack-down on fake news and fraudulent sites.

The implications for radio could be significant; you can now see the content that is being sponsored by any station or show, as well as the quantity of content that’s being published.

From this information, it should be clear to see the types of audiences a page is targeting, based on patterns with the types of posts being advertised.

Jaden Social’s digital advertising and SEO manager Brian Lawlor says “You constantly need to be evolving your campaigns and checking what is going on within your industry and beyond.

“The new feature will make marketers really look at what the competition is doing and put more pressure on them to up their game in terms of their advertising.”

The new service is not yet available on all Facebook pages, with the rollout ongoing.
